Sexy Corsets and Bustiers (Knowing the Difference)

Corsets & Bustiers

What are the differences? In 1878 Corsets were notorious for helping women to achieve that hourglass figure. Features include a busk fastening at the front and lacing at the back which still hold popular today but not only as an undergarment.
Today the "corset" has also been borrowed by the fashion industry to refer to tops which in varying degrees mimic the look of traditional corsets without actually acting as one. While modern corsets often feature lacing and/or boning and generally mimic a historical style of corsets, they have very little if any effect on the shape of the wearer's body.

There are a many different styles of Corsets still worn today. An over-bust corset encloses the torso. An under-bust corset begins just under the breasts and extends down to the hips. (Corset can also include garters to hold up stockings.)

But What makes a Bustier different from a Corset? Well…A bustier, is a form-fitting garment for women, which is traditionally worn as lingerie. Its primary function is to push up the breast by tightening against the upper midriff and forcing the breasts up, while gently shaping the waist. A Bustier can also be worn as a push-up bra and is often made with mesh panel instead of the traditional boning of Corsets.

The Difference.
The Bustier function is to lift the breast while slightly shaping the waist while the corset is designed to reshape the wearers figure.
